Sunday School

Sunday School 10:30-11:30 a.m.

Sunday school for children and youth up to age 20 takes place at the same time as the Sunday church service. Visitors are always welcome.

The first Tenet of Christian Science reads: “As adherents of Truth, we take the inspired Word of the Bible as our sufficient guide to eternal Life.” (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, Mary Baker Eddy, p. 497:3)

It follows, then, that we want children to have the benefit of familiarity with the beautiful words and powerful ideas found in the King James Bible.

Competent teachers provide age-appropriate instruction, beginning with the Ten Commandments, the Beatitudes, and Psalms. They introduce the familiar stories of patriarchs and prophets like Moses, Joseph, Daniel, David, Ruth, Isaiah, and of course the life and teachings of Christ Jesus. They learn that God is Love and loves everyone.

As they progress, they learn how to read the lesson-sermon that Christian Scientists study, and how to apply the lessons from the Bible and explanations in Science and Health for themselves.

Parents who don’t have a background in Christian Science but might like their children to have religious instruction, may direct questions to our Sunday School superintendent, Betsi Shays, at 203-767-2304.
